Thank you for your interest. Protective presence is how we define our work in the residential and agricultural areas of Palestinian shepherd communities in the occupied West Bank. The purpose of our activity is to protect these communities from harassment by violent settlers — residents of the illegal outposts that have been established throughout the area in recent years, and with increasing intensity since October 7, 2023.
We are a group of volunteers who are in the field daily, serving as a buffer between the shepherd and farmer communities and the settlers, who cruelly attack Palestinian residents in order to push them out and displace them as part of a policy of ethnic cleansing backed by the government, the military, and the police.
Our presence is also important for gathering data and documenting the illegal acts committed by these actors, and bringing them to the attention of the public and decision-makers in Israel and abroad. We also work in the legal sphere to fight these injustices and those who commit them.
